How to be Blessed: 3 Critical Truths for Every Believer

The Bible gives us numerous instructions on how to be blessed by God. God wants to bless us. That’s why He gave all these instructions to us. Therefore, knowing the biblical principles about God’s blessings is essential.

How to be blessed: Apply what you learned from the Word of God to be blessed.

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Joshua 1:8

There’s nothing wrong with focusing on reading and meditating on God’s Word. However, applying what is written in God’s Word is the main point of this verse. Applying God’s Word is equally essential to reading and meditating on God’s Word.

Without reading, there would be no application. And without application, reading and meditating would be useless. It doesn’t matter how much you read the Bible. If you don’t apply it, you miss the purpose of reading and meditation.

22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

James 1:22-25

Listening to the preaching of God’s Word is a great privilege. However, it is up to us whether we will apply it. If we use what we learned from the Bible, God will bless us in our deeds.

How to be blessed: Pray and ask God for His blessings.

6Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

As a child of God, we can ask and pray to our Heavenly Father. Because of this, we should not live in fear and worry since we know that we can always pray to God. The reason why we worry too much (careful) is that we refuse to pray to God.

Worry distracts us when problems come. But prayer puts our focus back on God because we acknowledge He is in control. Therefore, prayer produces the peace of God that sets our hearts in the proper perspective.

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

1 John 5:14

Remember that God is able and willing to give us anything if it’s according to His will. That’s why we must always consider God’s will when we pray and ask for His blessings. One reason God does not give us what we’re asking for is that it’s not His will.

How to be blessed: Give God what belongs to Him.

10Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

Malachi 3:10-11

If you give your tithes, God promises that He will bless you. He will also protect your business or employment. Remember that our provisions come from God. Our business or employment are only God’s instruments to bless us.

Our material possessions, employment, businesses, and finances are all from God. He gives us the health we need to do our job, the wisdom to do business, and the grace for our every need.

Therefore, we should willingly give what belongs to God, not involuntarily (2 Corinthians 9:7.)

Suppose you review all the verses we read and studied on how to be blessed by God. You will conclude that blessing is equal to obedience.
