Jeremiah 32:17-25 is Jeremiah’s prayer to God for the people of Judah. This chapter also shows us the magnificent power of God. In Jeremiah 32:27, God asks Jeremiah if there’s anything too hard for Him. Of course, the prophet already knew the answer to this question since he said there’s nothing too hard for God in verse 17.
Is there anything too hard for God?
God is omnipotent; there’s nothing God cannot do.
6By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. 7He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. 8Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 9For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
Psalms 33:6-9
God is so powerful that he spoke everything into existence. Just trying to comprehend the creation of God gives us great amazement toward Him. Job was about to complain about his existence after experiencing terrible tribulation. But when God appeared to him in Job 38, he felt awe and gratitude when he saw the power of God and control over creation.
God is omnipresent; there’s nowhere God cannot go.
Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 23:24
God is present everywhere in the universe. Since He created those three, time, space, and matter can never limit God. Therefore, God is present anytime (time) and anywhere (space and matter.) This brings great comfort to any believer because God’s promise of protection, provision, and presence will be with us wherever we are.
God is omniscient; there’s nothing God does not know.
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
Isaiah 40:28
God has infinite knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. There’s nothing that he’s not aware of. And there’s nothing that takes him by surprise. He knows everything that will happen before it ever happens. This also comforts the believers since He knows our physical and spiritual needs. Also, since He knows what will happen, we can entrust all our decisions to Him.
These are just three of the many attributes that prove the power of God. So from these facts, there’s no reason for us to doubt the power of God.
The power of God: There’s no problem God cannot solve.
Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:
Jeremiah 32:19
Jeremiah mentions God’s omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence in this verse. If we put all these attributes together, then there’s no problem God cannot solve. This means that God knows your pain. He knows the solution to your problem, and He has the power to perform the solution to your problem.
Everyone has problems.
Notice how God tried all the men and women He had used mightily in the Bible. He tried Joseph, Moses, Daniel, Paul, and many others. Why did God make them suffer before using them? Because it’s never about what you can do, It’s about what God can do through you.
9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
Paul wanted to rid himself of his “thorn in the flesh,” however, Christ revealed to him that all he needed was the grace of God in his life. That’s why if you’ll notice, these people accomplished great things for God despite their weaknesses. It’s all because of the power of God.
Everyone has problems only God can solve.
This is the confidence every Christian has that no matter how big their problem is, God can deliver them. In Romans fifteen, the apostle Paul presents God as the God of Hope. He is our only hope because He is the only one who can solve our problems. Therefore, we should understand that our limited minds cannot comprehend God’s ways.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
Isaiah 55:8
The power of God: There’s no prayer God cannot suffice.
And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror;
Jeremiah 32:21
When the Hebrews were enslaved, they had no leaders, resources, or military training. But they knew that they had God who answered prayers. So they cried out and prayed to Him. We also might feel hopeless in different circumstances, but we know that God answers prayers.
23And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. 24And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. 25And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.
Exodus 2:23-25
As children of God, He gave us the privilege to call on Him when needed. Not only did He give us that privilege, but He also gave us the invitation to pray. And if there’s a time we don’t know what to pray for because of how great the need is. We have the Holy Spirit, who will guide us in what we should pray for.
26Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Romans 8:26-27
The Holy Spirit also intercedes for us when we don’t know what to pray for. Because when problems are too big, we cannot pronounce our prayers. The Holy Spirit prays for us according to the will of God.
The power of God: There’s no promise God cannot satisfy.
And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;
Jeremiah 32:22
God gave them the land which He promised them. God always gave them victory in their conquest because He fought for them. Centuries passed before God accomplished His promise, but we must realize His timing is the best.
God’s promise of salvation.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Romans 8:1
Those who are in Christ Jesus are the ones who have trusted in Him as the only means of salvation. If we trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s promise of salvation already belongs to us. Salvation in Christ happens certainly, entirely, and instantly.
God’s promise of security.
Romans 8:1 also tells us that there’s no more condemnation to those who are in Christ. We need to understand that eternal security is not separate from salvation. If a person believes he can lose his salvation, he trusts in another gospel because our salvation in Christ includes eternal security. We understand that our salvation is eternal when we trust the Lord Jesus Christ as our savior.
God’s promise of suffering.
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Romans 8:17
The Lord Jesus Christ suffered persecution in this world. He experienced rejection from his people. He experienced temptation in the wilderness, and one of his close friends betrayed Him. If the Lord Jesus Christ experienced those things, we would undoubtedly experience them.
God’s promise of Heaven is the ultimate display of the power of God.
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Romans 8:18
There will be suffering while we are here in this world. But God also promised us that there would be a time when we get to Heaven to be with the Lord Jesus Christ. If anticipating that promise gives us hope and peace. How much more when we’re already there?
God can accomplish all these promises because He is omnipotent. But also, He will fulfill His promises because He is faithful. Therefore there is no reason for us to doubt the power of God.
